Billing

Lizard has three self-serve plans: Pro at $19 a month, Pro 5x at $99 and Pro 20x at $499. Each plan includes usage equal to its price each month. That usage covers apps, Sandboxes, Managed Postgres, Managed Redis, Managed Object Storage, Persistent Volumes and outgoing traffic. Beyond it, you pay as you go at the published rates. The bigger plans also raise your limits.

Manage your plan, card and invoices on the Billing page: open Settings from the sidebar or the account menu, then Billing under Account. You can also use lizard billing. The plan belongs to the workspace owner. Usage in every workspace you own counts toward your plan, and members add no seat fee.

Plans

Prices include tax. Included usage covers the whole platform. Every plan renews each month until you cancel. Unused usage does not carry over to the next month.

To start Pro 5x or Pro 20x, choose it on the Billing page. Lizard charges the full price that day. To move from one plan to another, see changing plans.

Included usage and overage

Each month includes usage equal to your plan’s price: $19 on Pro, $99 on Pro 5x and $499 on Pro 20x. Usage above that is overage, charged at the same rates.

Lizard charges overage as it builds up, not in one bill at the end of the month. When unbilled overage reaches $20, Lizard charges your card. Each paid charge raises the next step: $100, then $200, $400 and $1,000, and $1,000 after that. The steps start again at $20 each month. When the month ends, any overage not yet charged goes on one final invoice. There is no spending cap.

The Billing page shows how much of your included usage you have used this month, the overage so far and your next charge.

Resource rates

Prices are in US dollars.

Incoming traffic is free. Apps, Managed Postgres and Managed Redis use these rates. Sandboxes have a flat hourly price for each size; see Sandbox sizes.

For example, one vCPU and 1 GB of memory used for one hour cost $0.0375192 in compute. Storage and outgoing traffic can add to that. See pricing for all rates and plan terms.

Trial

You can browse with a new account, but you need a plan to create apps, Sandboxes, databases or volumes. Only Pro has a trial. Pro starts with a 7-day trial that includes $5 of usage. You add a card to start it; Apple Pay works too. Nothing is charged when the trial starts. When it ends, Pro begins at $19 a month unless you cancel first.

Each account and each card gets one trial. If the account had one before, Pro starts at once and charges $19 that day. If the card had one, the trial does not start and nothing is charged; start Pro at $19 on the Billing page.

The trial includes every Pro feature, with lower limits until your first paid invoice. Until then, Sandboxes run only at the Small size and only in US regions, up to 4 Small Sandboxes (8 vCPU) at once, from the dashboard, Lizard CLI, Lizard SDK or Lizard MCP alike. A create with no size gets Small. A Medium sandbox, by name, from a snapshot or as a fork, returns HTTP 403 with code set to TRIAL_SANDBOX_SIZE. A Large one returns HTTP 403 with code set to SANDBOX_SIZE_NOT_ALLOWED, whether you create, resume, fork or restore it. A region outside the US returns HTTP 403 with code set to TRIAL_SANDBOX_REGION. Start Pro now unlocks the other sizes, the other regions and the Pro limits.

To move to Pro 5x or Pro 20x during the trial, choose Start Pro now first, then change plans.

When trial usage runs out

• When you use up the trial’s included usage, Lizard pauses running resources and blocks new ones. It keeps their data; see what a billing pause keeps.
• To go on, choose Start Pro now on the Billing page or run lizard billing start-now. This ends the trial, charges $19 and starts your first paid month with $19 of usage. Paused apps and databases start again once the payment goes through.

Unused trial usage ends with the trial. It does not move to the paid month.

Promo codes

A promo code can give a longer trial, up to 730 days, and more trial usage. It replaces the standard 7 days and $5. Redeem a code on the Billing page or with lizard billing promo <code>.

• Before the trial starts, Lizard saves the code and applies it when you add your card.
• During the trial, a code raises its length and included usage to what the code gives. It does not add to what you already have.
• Codes work only before your first payment.
• Each account and each card can use one code.

Limits

Sandbox limits count the vCPU of running sandboxes, not the number of sandboxes. Small uses 2 vCPU, Medium 4 and Large 8, so 40 vCPU runs 20 Small, 10 Medium or 5 Large sandboxes at once. The trial’s 8 vCPU runs up to 4 Small Sandboxes. Pro limits apply from your first paid invoice, including a Start Pro now payment. Pro 5x and Pro 20x are paid from the first day, so their limits apply at once. See Limits for start rates per hour and per day, and for other limits.

Changing plans

Move between Pro, Pro 5x and Pro 20x on the Billing page.

• Upgrade: a move to a plan with a higher price starts at once. Lizard charges the difference for the rest of the current month, prorated, and adds the same amount to this month’s included usage. The new limits apply at once. For example, a move from Pro to Pro 5x halfway through the month charges about $40 and adds about $40 of included usage.
• Downgrade: a move to a plan with a lower price starts with the next month. Until then, you keep your current plan, its included usage and its limits. The Billing page shows the plan that comes next. Choose your current plan again to cancel the downgrade. If your running sandboxes use more vCPU than the new limit when it starts, they keep running, but Lizard refuses new starts and resumes until they fit under the new limit.
• You cannot change plans during the trial. Start Pro now first.
• You cannot change plans while an invoice is unpaid. Pay it first.

If your bank asks you to confirm an upgrade payment, the Billing page links to the invoice page to do so.

Payment failures

If a charge fails, whether the monthly plan price, an upgrade or an overage charge:

• You cannot create new resources from the moment the charge fails.
• Running resources keep running for 72 hours, then pause.
• Paused resources keep their data; see what a billing pause keeps.

Pay the open invoice on the Billing page. Once it is paid, Lizard lifts the block and starts paused apps and databases again. Resume paused Sandboxes yourself. Stripe retries a failed charge; if the last retry fails, your plan ends.

Cancelling

Cancel at any time on the Billing page, in the Stripe customer portal, or with lizard billing cancel. Your plan stays active until the end of the current month or trial. Overage up to that date goes on a final invoice. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing.

Until the end date, you can undo the cancel on the Billing page or with lizard billing resume.

When your plan ends, Lizard blocks new resources and pauses running ones. It keeps their data, as described below. To use them again, start a plan on the Billing page. A second trial is not available, so Pro starts at once at $19.

What a billing pause keeps

Apps and databases keep their data while paused. A running sandbox is paused with its files and memory. A sandbox that can’t be paused at that moment, or one that has crashed, is deleted with its files. Keep files you need on a Persistent Volume.

Enterprise

Enterprise accounts pay as you go and get an invoice each month for the month before. Rates, limits and payment terms follow your contract. If you need more than Pro 20x allows, ask us about Enterprise on the pricing page.

Idle apps and stored data

An app can use memory and CPU even when it has no requests. Pause the app to stop compute usage, or let it sleep when idle and wake on the next request. You pay for Persistent Volumes and Managed Object Storage while you keep data in them, even when the app is paused.
