# Sandboxes dashboard

Every project has a **Sandboxes** page for creating and inspecting sandboxes by hand — useful for debugging an agent's environment, grabbing an interactive shell, or spot-checking what code produced. Open a project and select **Sandboxes** in the sidebar (`/<workspace>/<project>/sandboxes`).

The page has three tabs: **Sandboxes**, **Volumes**, and **Snapshots**.

## Getting an API key

If you haven't used sandboxes yet, the empty state walks you through creating an **API key** for the SDK. The key is shown **once** — copy it immediately; it can't be retrieved later. Store it as `LIZARD_API_KEY` (see the [Quickstart](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes/quickstart#authenticate)).

## Create a sandbox

Click **New Sandbox** and set:

- **Snapshot** — the [template](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes#templates) to boot from (`base` or `code-interpreter-v1`).
- **Location** — the region to run in (defaults to the nearest available).
- **Resources** — the current templates use 4 vCPU and 4096 MiB RAM; these are not per-create size options.

Sandboxes created here have no timeout — they run until you kill them.

## Inspect a running sandbox

Selecting a sandbox opens a detail drawer with two tabs.

**Overview** shows its ID, template, status, region, and CPU/memory, plus:

- **Exposed ports** — every port opened with [`getHost`](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes/quickstart#exposing-a-port), each with a copyable public `https://…onlizard.com` URL you can open directly.
- **SSH access** — when available, a ready-to-paste `ssh root@<node-ip> -p <port>` command and the generated password.

**Terminal** gives you an in-browser shell straight into the micro-VM (backed by SSH), so you can poke around without leaving the dashboard.

Live sandboxes report real-time CPU and memory usage in the list; paused and stopped ones report zero.

## Lifecycle

- **Kill Sandbox** (in the detail drawer) terminates it immediately and frees its resources — including detaching any [volume](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes/volumes).
- **Pause / resume** are driven from the [SDK](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes/quickstart#pause-and-resume); a paused sandbox shows as **Paused** here and consumes no on-demand compute.

## Snapshots

The **Snapshots** tab lists the templates a sandbox can boot from — the built-in `base` and `code-interpreter-v1`. A custom-template upload command is not part of the current public CLI. Each entry shows its default vCPU/memory and description.

## Volumes

The **Volumes** tab manages [persistent storage](https://lizard.build/docs/sandboxes/volumes): create a volume with a name and size, and see which sandbox each one is attached to.
